City of Whitehall Police Reports: 3/19-3/25

March 19

Three people were taken to Trinity Hospital after a two-car crash in the 1200 block of Colby Street. Whitehall Police were dispatched at 1:35 p.m. after a westbound vehicle struck another westbound car that had stopped to turn left. A 25-year-old Whitehall woman was driving the first car and failed to notice the stopped vehicle. The second car, driven by a 40-year-old Muskegon woman, had five occupants. Although both vehicles only had minor damage, the Muskegon woman and her two children, ages 6 and 9, complained of pain and were taken to the hospital by Trinity EMS.

At 4:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of people possibly camping in the woods near the 900 block of Warner Street. Upon arrival, the officer found two juveniles relaxing in hammocks but did not find signs of a campsite. The teens told the officer they were just “hanging out” after school. They were reminded that the property was private and told to leave the area.

The School Resource Officer was called at 12:31 p.m. to investigate an incident that occurred during passing time. The victim was not involved in the gaming conflict, but the 12-year-old suspect believed he was about to be attacked. The two exchanged words in the hallway before the victim entered his classroom. A teacher escorted the suspect away, but he ran back into the room and assaulted the victim. The school principal, who was nearby, stepped in and separated them.
