City of Whitehall Police Reports 4/23–4/30

Four-Car Crash Involving High School Students – April 23
A four-vehicle accident occurred at 2:50 p.m. on White Lake Drive as school let out. The first car slowed for a left-turning vehicle. The second driver swerved off the road and hit a sign to avoid a crash. The third car rear-ended the first, and the fourth hit the third. All drivers were teens, aged 16 or 17, and students at the local high school. No injuries were reported among the drivers or passengers.

Family Dispute on S Franklin St – April 24
Whitehall officers responded to a domestic disturbance at 10:54 p.m. A man reported that an intoxicated woman threatened to “cut him up into little pieces.” The man, who admitted to being high, wanted her removed from the home. However, the woman claimed she only wanted to sleep on the couch. No assault occurred, and no action was taken.

Illegal Brush Fire on Elizabeth St – April 25
At 6:12 a.m., officers and White Lake Fire Authority responded to a reported structure fire. It was found to be a large backyard brush fire. The 34-year-old resident began extinguishing the flames upon learning the fire department was on the way. He was later cited for illegal burning.

OWI Arrest Following Traffic Violation – April 25
An officer witnessed a red-light violation downtown at 11:26 p.m. A driver entered the intersection well after the light had turned red. The officer initiated a stop and noted signs of intoxication. The 53-year-old Ada man failed sobriety tests and was arrested for OWI. A breath test confirmed a BAC over Michigan’s legal limit. He was held overnight in the county jail.

Assault Report at Funnell Field – April 26
Police were called to a fight at 4:22 p.m. between two women attending a youth baseball game. One woman, 31, allegedly pushed and punched the 23-year-old girlfriend of her child’s father. The mother claimed the girlfriend initiated the incident. The case has been forwarded to the county prosecutor for review.

Welfare Check on Colby St – April 26
At 6:16 p.m., officers conducted a welfare check after neighbors found an apartment door open with no response. The resident said they had been napping and forgot to close the door. No further issues were found.

Dispute Over Dog on Livingston St – April 27
A loud argument between two men was reported at 11:41 a.m. One man claimed he was bitten by a dog in the house. The injury appeared minor and not consistent with a bite. Both parties agreed to separate and cool off. No further action was taken.

Stranded Boater on White Lake – April 28
At 7:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a drifting boat. The officer could see the vessel and passenger but couldn’t make contact. A second boat arrived and towed the stranded individual to safety.

Medical Emergency on Bike Path – April 29
Police assisted a medical call on the bike path near Thompson St at 6:18 p.m. An 18-year-old Montague resident had a seizure. Witnesses called 911, found the person’s medical bracelet, and contacted the family. The teen was taken home by relatives after evaluation.

Heart Attack Response at Fire Station – April 30
Officers responded to the White Lake Fire Authority station at 2:41 a.m. A man had brought his wife, who showed heart attack symptoms, to the station from Montague. Fire staff treated her until Trinity Health EMS transported her to the hospital.
