Muskegon hosts many exciting events, but few have grown as fast as MuskeCon. Originally, it started in a 5,000-square-foot space. However, it quickly needed more room. Now, the event takes place in a 15,000-square-foot venue at the Van Dyke Mortgage Convention Center. What started as a small collector’s show has become a major event for toy collectors, cosplayers, and artists. Each year, more people attend, proving how much the community enjoys this event.
A Space for Collectors and Families
MuskeCon was created to give collectors a place to shop without using eBay. This event has something for everyone attending. Some visitors search for vintage G.I. Joes, while others look for Disney collectibles, Funko Pops, or Legos. Additionally, MuskeCon highlights local artists, allowing them to share their work with a larger audience. Families can explore booths, find unique items, and enjoy the lively atmosphere. The event also features handmade crafts, comic books, and rare action figures.
Bringing Fans Together
One of the biggest draws in recent years has been Four Horsemen Toy Studios. Their Mythic Legions figures have a strong following. Because of this, MuskeCon now includes a special pre-event called the Mythical Midwest Meetup. However, this gathering is not open to all attendees. It is a niche event specifically for Mythic Legions fans who want to connect with fellow collectors. Last year, one of the Four Horsemen revealed exclusive content during the meetup, making it an exciting opportunity for dedicated fans. Additionally, MuskeCon has inspired other events, including a gaming convention in Muskegon each August. The cosplay community has also grown, bringing back panels, costume contests, and interactive experiences.
A Community That Cares
MuskeCon is more than a toy show. It has become a yearly reunion for fans and collectors who share similar interests. Star Wars groups, toy creators, and artists come together to celebrate their passions. This year’s event also honors Andy Hasper, a cosplayer and public safety officer who passed away from cancer. Proceeds from vendor badges will help support his daughter’s future. This tribute shows how strong the MuskeCon community has become.
Looking Ahead to the Future
MuskeCon continues to grow and promises even bigger things in 2026. The event will feature more vendors, new panels, and expanded space. Plans include adding more interactive activities, increasing artist showcases, and welcoming new toy creators. Whether someone is searching for a rare comic book, meeting fellow collectors, or enjoying the atmosphere, MuskeCon remains a special tradition that brings the Muskegon community together.
