As Montague High School continues to expand, so does its commitment to providing quality education and nurturing community connections. This year, MHS proudly welcomes two new educators: Alyssa LeBean, who joins the English department, and Josh Gildersma, who will be teaching Chemistry. Both teachers are dedicated to inspiring the next generation and fostering a supportive environment that emphasizes community, accountability, and the joy of learning.

Alyssa LeBean, a familiar face to many, first came to Montague as a student teacher. Now, returning as a full-time English teacher, she brings not only her expertise but also a deep appreciation for the school’s close-knit environment. “The school is sort of the hub of the community,” Alyssa reflected. “What happens here often mirrors what’s happening in the wider community.” Her experiences have shown her how closely Montague’s success is tied to the energy and involvement of students, families, and local leaders.

Josh Gildersma, new to the Montague teaching team, has been impressed by the enthusiasm he sees from all corners of the community. “”I see a lot of buy in from a lot of parents, and staff.” Josh shared. Josh believes this community spirit sets Montague apart and has made his transition into the school smooth and welcoming.

Both Alyssa and Josh are not only passionate educators but also advocates of strong leadership principles. For Josh, effective leadership is about accountability and growth. “”Leadership is about being held accountablity…” he explained. “True leaders take the take those failures that occur and say I am going to learn from the failure…they want to see everyone succeed.” This approach to leadership, Josh believes, is essential to creating a positive and resilient learning environment.

Alyssa sees her role as a teacher as a unique and impactful responsibility. “…You are the impacting the group that are going to be working with you, and for you, and helping you when you are 70-80 years old” She is excited to instill a love of learning in her students while fostering skills that will serve them well beyond high school.

Montague High School is fortunate to welcome these dedicated professionals. Alyssa LeBean and Josh Gildersma bring passion, fresh ideas, and a profound commitment to both the academic and personal development of their students. With their dedication to teaching, leadership, and community, they are sure to make a lasting impact on Montague High, inspiring students and contributing to the school’s ongoing growth and success.
