WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The White Lake Drive overpass above US-31 has been closed after crews discovered significant damage to the bridge deck, according to the Muskegon County Road Commission.
Officials say large holes were found in the bridge surface, prompting an immediate shutdown of the overpass. The closure is also affecting northbound US-31 traffic, with the right lane and the northbound off-ramp to White Lake Drive closed in the area.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is working to update detours and traffic control as needed. Repairs are expected to take roughly two to three weeks, though the timeline could change depending on conditions.
