The Whitehall and Montague High School bands have received an exciting $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation for Muskegon County’s White Lake Community Fund, unlocking an incredible leadership opportunity for local students and families.
This funding brings nationally renowned leadership speaker, coach, and author Dr. Matthew Arau to the districts on June 10–11 for two days of dynamic, hands-on leadership training. Dr. Arau, founder of Upbeat Global, is known worldwide for his powerful workshops that help youth and adults embrace positive leadership, teamwork, and personal growth.
Who Can Attend?
Thanks to this grant, ALL students, athletes, teachers, support staff, and parents from Whitehall or Montague schools are invited to attend the June 10 session, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The second day, June 11, will focus specifically on the Whitehall and Montague band programs, but adults are still welcome to participate and learn alongside the students.
If you’re from outside the two band organizations and interested in attending, please email Emma Greenwood at greenwoode@mapsk12.org so the organizers can plan materials and lunch accordingly.
Why This Matters
Dr. Arau’s programs, including his famous Upbeat! Leadership Workshops, are designed to inspire young leaders to encourage others, build resilience, and achieve their full potential. His trainings have impacted thousands of students across the country — and now, thanks to this generous grant, White Lake area students and staff can experience this right here in their own schools.
