WHITEHALL, MI – Ever wonder how White Lake got its name? Early explorers described the water as white due to a unique “white clay” along the lakebed—actually ancient marl deposits, long since gone but never forgotten. That name stuck, and now you can explore the history behind it aboard the 2025 White Lake History Cruises!
Presented by the White Lake Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau, this much-loved event returns for one final voyage on Sunday, July 27. After several years of sold-out cruises, this will be your last chance to step aboard and experience White Lake’s shoreline history from the water during this event.
🛳 Climb aboard the Aquastar, Muskegon’s 125-passenger cruise ship, departing from Goodrich Park’s Municipal Marina Dock (100 N. Lake St., Whitehall) for a 1 to 1.5-hour narrated journey. Local historians will bring the past to life as you cruise from one historic stop to another.
Need help with online ticketing? Stop by the Chamber office (124 W. Hanson St., Whitehall) Monday–Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM.
🚨 Important Notes:
