The Donald Camp Car Show, Fundraising for a Cause

“No matter what life throws at you, just keep fighting.”

WHITEHALL – Car shows are a beloved tradition in West Michigan, where enthusiasts gather to showcase their prized classic and sports vehicles. The Donald Camp Car Show was no exception, drawing a vibrant array of automobiles, from the grandest to the most compact, painted in every color imaginable.

This event held a deeper purpose. It was named in honor of Donald (Donnie) Camp, a passionate car lover facing the challenge of advancing kidney disease and mounting medical bills. His children, Tiffany Camp and Jake Worden, conceived the DC Car Show as a way to ease their family’s financial burden. Initially intended as a surprise, Donnie eventually learned of their heartwarming plan.

The community’s outpouring of support overwhelmed the family. On September 14th, 2024, the car show roared to life. Donnie, despite his health struggles, radiated joy as he welcomed friends, family, and fellow car enthusiasts. The event transcended fundraising; it became a celebration of Donnie’s life, his love for cars, and the unwavering support he received. Overcome with emotion, he remarked, “It’s amazing, it’s had me in tears more than once… I am beyond words.”

The event’s message was clear, articulated by Donnie himself: “No matter what life throws at you, just keep fighting. Put your best foot forward and love each day.”
