Stage and Savor: A Warm Community Gathering at The Playhouse

On Saturday, January 25, the White Lake community gathered at The Playhouse at White Lake for Stage and Savor: January Sips & Soups Onstage, an event that combined warmth, camaraderie, and a celebration of local talent. Local restaurants showcased signature soups alongside beverages, music, and art, creating a truly soup-er evening in support of the arts.

A Perfect Evening

Cindy Beth Davis-Dykema, from The Playhouse at White Lake, reflected on the event’s success:
“Our staff and volunteers were thrilled with the event, and honestly, it couldn’t have gone better!” she shared. “Seeing so many people smiling and at ease, enjoying the company, music, food, drink, and venue, and hearing such positive feedback was truly humbling.”

Community Voices and Highlights

Local vendors, including The Gnarly Heifer, Bone Ends, Hanson Hill, Fetch Eats, Pekadills, Hanson Hill, Fetch Eats, Oh Brothers, North Grove, Lipka’s and The Homestead Restaurant & Bakery, contributed to the evening’s vibrant atmosphere. Each brought their own unique flavors, from white chicken chili to creamy sausage tortellini, with the crowd enjoying every sip and spoonful.

Joseph Kruszynski from The Homestead Restaurant emphasized the importance of connecting with the community: “It’s nice to get out, meet people and support The Playhouse. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Michael Williams from Fetch Eats added, “We want to uplift all the restaurants in the area, especially during this time of year when things slow down.”

Cindy Beth Davis-Dykema noted that the event brought the community together after a challenging week of winter weather. “As one patron said, ‘Compliments to The Playhouse on your latest endeavor! It was a good, positive happening!’ It felt so good for people to be social after being locked inside. The music, food, and drinks created a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.”

Impact on The Playhouse

The event raised an impressive $4,169, nearly selling out and providing critical support for this 108-year-old community icon. Davis-Dykema expressed gratitude for the volunteers, patrons, and local restaurants who made the event possible.

Continuing the Momentum

Community members eager to support The Playhouse have more opportunities on the horizon:

Additionally, The Playhouse offers a wide range of activities year-round, including yoga classes, youth theatre programs, community theatre for adults, live music, films, and professional productions. Volunteering and donations of any size further help sustain this treasured venue.

For those who attended Stage and Savor, the evening was more than a meal—it was a soup-er celebration of community spirit, the arts, and the shared commitment to supporting local treasures. Mark your calendars for the upcoming events and continue to make The Playhouse a vital part of White Lake life.
