Montague Fire District to Hold Public Hearing on Budget and Millage Rate

The Montague Fire District will hold a public hearing later this month on its proposed 2026 tax levy and 2026–27 budget, including a proposed millage rate of 1.65 mills. Community members are invited to attend and provide input.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED MONTAGUE FIRE DISTRICT BUDGET AND ON THE PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX MILLAGE RATE

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held before the Montague Fire District Board on the proposed 2026 Montague Fire District Tax Levy and on the proposed 2026–27 Montague Fire District Budget on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room, Montague Fire District Station, 5085 Wilcox Street, Montague, Michigan. Copies of the proposed budget are available for public inspection during regular business hours in the office of the Montague Fire District.

The Montague Fire District has complete authority to establish the number of mills to be levied from within its authorized millage rate in order to maintain the current level of Montague Fire District services.

The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget (1.65 mills) will be a subject of this hearing.

Public comments, oral or written, are welcome at the hearing on the proposed millage rate and on the proposed Montague Fire District Budget.
