Fall into fun at the White Lake Community Library and Montague Library! Check out all the exciting programs and events lined up for November.
Big Read Lakeshore Adult Reading Challenge: Read the Great Lakes (White Lake Community Library)
The White Lake Community Library invites readers to join the Read the Great Lakes challenge, exploring books set on, near, or about each of the five Great Lakes for a chance to win a prize pack while deepening appreciation for the region. This year’s challenge ties into the Big Read Lakeshore and highlights Leif Enger’s I Cheerfully Refuse, with the author speaking at MCC’s Overbrook Theater on Nov. 13 at 6 PM.
Family Storytime (White Lake Community Library)
Children and caregivers are welcome at the White Lake Community Library on Mondays from 9:30–10:30 a.m. for a lively hour of stories, music, and movement. No sign-up needed—drop in whenever it works for you! This runs through November 17.
Baby Time (White Lake Community Library)
Bring your little ones (ages 0–2) to Baby Time at the White Lake Community Library on Tuesdays from 9:30–10:30 a.m. Enjoy songs, music, and movement together in this fun early learning program. This runs through November 18.
Toddler Storytime (Montague Branch)
Young children can enjoy Toddler Storytime Tuesday’s at Montague Branch. Sessions run from 9:30–10:30 a.m. Kids hear stories, sing songs, and interact with others. The goal is to build early literacy skills in a fun way.
Gentle Yoga (White Lake Community Library)
Join certified instructor Heather Hesse for a gentle yoga session open to all experience levels. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one and a water bottle. Cost is $10 per class. No need to register in advance.
Chair Yoga Class (White Lake Community Library)
Join Rhonda Aley for Chair Yoga, a gentle and accessible class designed for all levels, every Thursday, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Using chairs for support, this practice builds strength, flexibility, and peace of mind—perfect for beginners, those with mobility challenges, or anyone wanting a safe, effective yoga experience. Suggested donation is $5, or free for Silver Sneaker participants.
Play & Learn (White Lake Community Library)
Join the White Lake Community Library on Fridays from 9:30–10:30 a.m. for an engaging hour of stories, songs, and playtime for children ages 5 and under and their caregivers.
Afternoon Hang (White Lake Community Library)
Teens can join Afternoon Hang on Friday’s from 2-4 p.m., see full schedule here. The program provides space for relaxation and creativity. Students can meet friends and enjoy games or crafts. It is designed to give teens a safe, fun place to gather.
Pick-Your-Own-Book Club (White Lake Community Library)
The Pick-Your-Own-Book Club, November 11 at 5:30 p.m. Each participant chooses a book and then shares about it. The goal is to open discussions across many genres. It provides flexibility for different reading tastes.
Cookbook Club (White Lake Community Library)
The Cookbook Club meets on October 20 at 5:30 p.m. Members bring dishes that fit the monthly theme. The club mixes cooking and conversation in a fun way. This gathering is perfect for food lovers.
Grandmothers Group (White Lake Community Library)
At the White Lake Community Library, a group of local women gathers on the last Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. for thoughtful and lively conversations about their roles, relationships, and experiences in the second half of life. Inspired by traditions where elders are honored as “Grandmothers,” this welcoming circle invites all women—whether grandmothers or not—to join in.
Journey Stone (Montague Branch) Registration Required
In November, the Montague Branch will host Journey Stone on November 5 from 4–5 p.m. This children’s program is connected to the Big Read. Kids learn through a guided activity. It ties storytelling with creativity. Registration opens Monday October 6 at 12 a.m.
Water Filtration Family Night (White Lake Community Library)
Join the White Lake Community Library for Family Night on Thursday, November 6 from 5:30–6:30 p.m.! Kids and caregivers will build mini water filters with recycled bottles while learning how clean water is made. All materials provided—just bring your curiosity! Part of the Big Read Along the Lakeshore.
Lights & Legends (Montague Branch) Registration Required
Another Big Read event is Lights & Legends, scheduled for November 12 from 4–5 p.m. Teens and tweens explore myths and stories from different traditions. The program brings history and imagination together. It is a chance for students to think beyond the classroom. Registration opens Wednesday October 15 at 12 a.m.
Shaping the Landscape: West Michigan’s Environmental History (Montague Branch)
Finally, adults can attend Shaping the Landscape: West Michigan’s Environmental History on November 19 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. This talk highlights how the region’s environment has changed. The program blends history with present-day awareness. It encourages reflection on our role in shaping the future.
Pinecone Ball
Add a touch of the outdoors to your fall décor! Create a festive hanging ball using pinecones and evergreens at this autumn-themed workshop on Monday, November 24 from 10:00–11:00 a.m.
