In the early morning hours of August 22, an officer on patrol observed two minors riding longboards in the roadway near the 600 block of E. Colby Street. After contact was made, both subjects explained they were heading to a parent’s residence in Whitehall. Officers educated the minors on the city’s curfew ordinance and advised them to avoid traveling in traffic lanes.
August 23 – Welfare Check
Later in the week, officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of E. Colby Street at 6:51 a.m. after reports of a woman knocking on neighbors’ doors. The 58-year-old female was safely assisted back to her apartment after officers determined that no medical intervention was needed.
August 25 – 911 Hang-Up
On August 25, officers responded to a 911 hang-up call from the 500 block of Gibbs Street. The homeowner confirmed the call was accidental, and no additional action was required.
August 26 – Suspicious Person
At 10:16 a.m. on August 26, the School Resource Officer was alerted to a suspicious male near the 500 block of E. Slocum Street. The 26-year-old Muskegon man explained he was searching for White Lake Fire Authority Chief Peter McCarthy. The interaction ended without issue, and officers confirmed there was no threat.
August 27 – Harassment Complaint
On August 27, Whitehall officers responded to the 500 block of E. Lewis Street following a report of harassment. A woman claimed her ex-boyfriend’s mother had been pressuring her over property matters. Officers provided assistance and referred the complainant to victim services at the prosecutor’s office for further support.
August 28 – Salvage Inspections
To conclude the week, an officer completed four salvage vehicle inspections across several sites. They also helped multiple individuals finalize paperwork to make vehicles road legal.
