Double Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
70 grams (5 tablespoons) butter
100 grams (1/2 cup) honey (or maple syrup)
2 eggs (roughly 100 grams)
5 grams (1 teaspoon) vanilla extract
310 grams (4 medium) bananas, very ripe
5 grams (1 teaspoon) baking soda
3 grams (1/2 teaspoon) salt
44 grams (1/2 cup) cocoa powder
160 grams (1 1/4 cup) all-purpose flour
60 grams (1/4 cup) milk
223 grams (1 1/3 cup) chocolate chips, divided (unsweetened or dark chocolate preferred)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix the wet ingredients: Cream the butter and honey until smooth and fluffy. Add the eggs, mashed bananas, milk, and vanilla, mixing until combined.
Combine the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda.
Bring it all together: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined to avoid overmixing.
Add chocolate chips: Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips, reserving the rest for the top.
Prepare the loaf pan: Spray a 9” x 5” loaf pan with non-stick spray and pour in the batter. Top with the remaining chocolate chips for extra indulgence.
Bake: Bake for 60–75 minutes, covering the top with foil in the last 20 minutes to prevent over-browning. The bread is ready when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool and serve: Let the bread cool on a rack before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature for a comforting treat.
