Shoreline Roofing and Gutters isn’t just a roofing company—it’s a key player in the White Lake area, with deep roots in the community. Founded by Whitehall High School graduates Dan Wilson and Kyle Johnson, the business has evolved over the years, starting as Shoreline Restoration and Construction before expanding into its current form.
“We realized many customers didn’t know we offered roofing services because of our name,” Kyle explained. “That’s why we rebranded and eventually moved to our current location, which better reflects who we are and what we do.”
A Strong Connection to the Community
Dan and Kyle’s ties to White Lake run deep. Beyond their business, they actively participate in local events, sponsor youth sports teams, and support schools in both Whitehall and Montague.
“We sponsor T-ball teams, high school athletics, and events like the Chamber of Commerce golf outing,” Kyle said. “We’ve even partnered with the Montague Fire Department to help with fundraisers.”

Their efforts extend to mentoring local students through an unofficial apprenticeship program. “We bring in students from Montague and Whitehall to work with us over the summer,” Dan added. “Some go on to other paths, but a few have stayed with us after graduation. It’s rewarding to see them grow.”
A Camera with a Purpose
Shoreline Roofing and Gutters is also behind a unique addition to the White Lake area: a livestream camera perched on their building, offering stunning views of the bridge and lake.
Amy VanLoon, the former Executive Director of the White Lake Chamber of Commerce, initially proposed the idea of installing a new livestream camera. “Our rooftop turned out to be the perfect spot,” Dan said. “The camera showcases the beauty of White Lake year-round and gives tourists and locals alike a real-time view of the area.”
For Dan, a passionate fisherman, the project also serves a practical purpose. “It’s a great way to check the weather and conditions,” he shared.
Since its launch, the camera has received an outpouring of praise from the community. “Thousands of people have shared the link and commented on how much they enjoy it,” Kyle said. “It’s become a great way to drive tourism and highlight what makes White Lake special.”
Giving Back: A Core Value
For Dan and Kyle, giving back isn’t just a part of their business—it’s a reflection of their personal values.
“This community is the reason we’re here,” Dan explained. “Whether it’s providing jobs for local students or stepping in to help a family who needs a roof before winter, we’re committed to making a difference.”
Kyle added, “We don’t just sell roofs. We inspect attics, address mold issues, and handle the full scope of a project. It’s about taking care of people and providing solutions, not just services.”
Future Plans
Looking ahead, Shoreline Roofing and Gutters has big plans. Their growing gutter division has been a success, and they’re exploring opportunities to launch a scholarship program for local students pursuing careers in the trades.
“Our main focus will always be on this community,” Dan said. “We’ve been here since the beginning, and we’re not going anywhere. We’re excited to expand and continue giving back in new ways.”
A Message for the Community
Dan and Kyle encourage other local businesses to get involved in giving back. “Reach out to the Chamber of Commerce,” Kyle suggested. “They’re a great resource for connecting with initiatives that benefit the area. Supporting the community benefits everyone.”
With a steadfast commitment to their neighbors and a vision for the future, Shoreline Roofing and Gutters isn’t just a business—it’s a vital part of the White Lake area’s story.
