For years, being a technologist in Muskegon has felt a little like standing in the middle of unrealized momentum. The talent is here. The tools are here. Advanced manufacturers, IT professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, educators, and problem-solvers are building impressive things every day across the Lakeshore. The region boasts outstanding venues capable of hosting major gatherings, a growing innovation ecosystem, and a community known for grit, creativity, and collaboration.
And yet, something was missing.
Despite all of this capability, there was a noticeable lack of technology and innovation-focused events that brought people together in a visible, intentional way. Few opportunities existed for technologists to connect with entrepreneurs, for small startups to rub shoulders with major manufacturers, or for bold ideas to be shared across industries. The gap was not about resources or ambition. It was about connection.
That realization sparked a simple question. What would happen if we created a shared moment designed specifically to bring Muskegon’s innovators together?
On April 21, 2026, that question will be answered at The Muskegon Innovators Summit, hosted by the Muskegon Innovation Hub and its partners at the Muskegon Convention Center. Timed to coincide with World Innovation Day, the half-day regional event will bring together more than 300 entrepreneurs, creators, business leaders, manufacturers, and community partners from across the Muskegon Lakeshore and surrounding areas.
This is not a traditional conference. It is a celebration of creativity, entrepreneurship, and the people who dare to imagine what comes next.
The name The Innovators Summit was chosen intentionally. “Summit” reflects the goal of calling people together from across the region into one shared place and moment for a focused, high-energy experience. “Innovators” is equally deliberate. This event is not centered on a single technology or narrow definition of innovation. It is about people. The people who have already innovated. The people eager to innovate. The dreamers and the doers who question the status quo and are willing to build something better.
At its core, the Innovators Summit is about connection. It is about creating an environment where bold thinking feels welcome, collaboration happens naturally, and inspiration is paired with practical action.
The event opens at noon, inviting attendees into an energetic, open-flow environment designed for exploration and conversation. Exhibitors will already be set up, food and beverages will be available, and music will set the tone. Attendees are encouraged to move freely between booths, networking spaces, and seating areas throughout the afternoon.
The exhibitor showcase is a central feature of the summit. It will highlight the full spectrum of innovation happening in the region, from large manufacturing leaders to local startups and resource organizations. A dedicated Innovator’s Alley will showcase smaller businesses and emerging ideas, placing them alongside established innovators and creating meaningful opportunities for discovery and dialogue.
At 1:00 p.m., the summit formally kicks off with a welcome from the Muskegon Innovation Hub, key partners, sponsors, and an emcee who will guide the experience and energize the room. From there, the spotlight turns to a national-level keynote speaker who will share insight on creativity, resilience, and the future of innovation. The keynote is designed to challenge assumptions, inspire bold thinking, and remind attendees that innovation is not accidental. It is intentional, human, and within reach.
Following the keynote, the summit breaks into multiple concurrent breakout sessions across three tracks. These hands-on sessions will explore topics such as funding strategies, design thinking, growth and scaling, and collaboration across industries. Each session is practical, interactive, and designed to provide takeaways attendees can apply immediately, regardless of where they are in their innovation journey.
Between sessions, the atmosphere remains intentionally dynamic. A DJ keeps the energy high, interactive spaces invite conversation, and thoughtfully designed seating and collaboration areas encourage spontaneous meetings. Attendees can continue visiting exhibitors, networking, or refueling throughout the event.
A light but substantial grazing-style meal will be available, featuring charcuterie, snacks, granola bars, trail mix, fruit, and an array of beverages including coffee, hydrogen-infused water, electrolyte drinks, energy drinks, sodas, and more. The goal is simple. Keep people energized, comfortable, and engaged.
The formal program concludes in the late afternoon with closing remarks that recap the day, recognize partners and sponsors, and point attendees toward what comes next for the region’s innovation ecosystem.
From 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., the Innovators Summit transitions into a Micro Pitch Competition paired with a happy hour. Pre-selected founders and small startups will take the stage to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to win prize money and recognition. It is a moment that captures the spirit of the entire event. Courage, creativity, and the willingness to share an idea in front of a community that wants to see it succeed.
An Invitation to Support Innovation
The Innovators Summit is made possible through the support of regional partners and sponsors who believe in the power of ideas, people, and community. Sponsorship opportunities are available for organizations that want to be visible, engaged, and aligned with the region’s innovation movement. Sponsors will have the opportunity to connect directly with entrepreneurs, business leaders, and emerging innovators while demonstrating their commitment to the future of the Lakeshore.

Information on sponsorship levels and benefits is available through the Innovators Summit materials, with sign-up links and QR codes included for easy access.

The Innovators Summit is more than a single afternoon. It is a statement about Muskegon and the Lakeshore region. Innovation is not something that happens somewhere else. It is happening here. The talent is here. The ideas are here. And when the right people are brought together with intention, momentum follows.
On April 21, 2026, the region will not just talk about innovation. It will experience it.
