Athletic Prowess and Team Spirit

The Class of 1997 shined brightly in sports, with standout athletes leading the way. Sarah Haney, Jen Gerig, and Stacey Hulbert excelled in volleyball, earning spots on the All-Conference first team. Jason Schreuder dominated basketball, showcasing his skills as the team’s top scorer and rebounder. In football, Chad Osborne’s impressive rushing yards and defensive tackles made him a key player. Soccer players also contributed with strong performances, helping secure multiple wins. Their combined efforts brought numerous victories, leaving a lasting impact. Each game highlighted their determination and teamwork.


Artistic and Musical Excellence

This class excelled in arts and music, as evident in their participation in the drama company, jazz band, color guard, Symphonic Band, Stanton Street Singers and marching band. Their performance of Oliver was a standout event, and the marching band impressed with a show based on Dante’s Divine Comedy. Additionally, the Stanton Street Singers and Women’s Choir showcased their vocal talents through powerful performances. These activities highlighted their dedication and creativity, enriching the school’s cultural scene.

Academic and Extracurricular Involvement

Academically, the students of 1997 shone brightly, complemented by their involvement in various extracurricular groups. The FFA team reached great heights, winning the state title in Parliamentary Procedure. They later competed at the National FFA Convention, showcasing their skills on a larger stage. Forensics participants displayed their public speaking talents in competitions, while SADD worked hard to promote awareness about safe driving. These groups played crucial roles in shaping a well-rounded student body, encouraging responsibility and leadership among peers.

The legacy of the Class of 1997 is one of resilience, talent, and community spirit. From sports victories to artistic achievements, they set an example for future classes. Their contributions in academics, arts, and extracurricular activities continue to inspire.

Owen Raeth joined CatchMark in August 2020 as a Tech Support Intern, then transitioned to DMM to learn graphic design. He is a 2024 graduate of Montague High School. Owen Raeth is a Digital Marketing and Media Intern at CatchMark Technologies with growing experience in video editing, content creation, and drone operations. A 2024 high school graduate, Owen is currently pursuing a degree in English education with a long-term goal of integrating technology into the classroom. Passionate about teaching, communication, and digital tools, he brings strong public speaking skills, hands-on technical ability, and a creative mindset to his work. Owen is committed to bridging education and media to empower future learners.
