Montague Band Presents 2024 Marching Band Glow Show

Marching bands from Montague, Whitehall, Shelby, Hesperia, and Mona Shores High School brought their unique flair to a vibrant night of music and lights at the annual Glow Show.

The Glow Show lived up to its name, with bands performing while instruments and uniforms were illuminated by neon lights, LED accessories, and glow sticks. The football field transformed into a glowing stage where music and light merged to create a stunning visual and auditory spectacle. As the sun set, the performances began, and the darkened field came alive with a kaleidoscope of colors.

Hesperia opened the show, followed by Shelby, Whitehall, Montague, and Mona Shores. Before each band took the field, the excited crowd counted down from five to one, building anticipation for the next glowing performance. With each countdown, the energy in the stands grew as spectators prepared to witness the next band’s dazzling display.

Each school put on a captivating show, with their glowing lights and creative choreography entertaining the crowd. The performances featured a wide variety of musical styles, and the bands demonstrated their precision and dedication through vibrant arrangements and formations.

A Grand Finale to Remember

The night concluded with an impressive finale by Mona Shores, whose performance brought the event to a rousing conclusion. The energy from all the bands had the crowd cheering and clapping as the final performance brought the Glow Show to an unforgettable close.

Community and Camaraderie

The Glow Show wasn’t just about the performances but about bringing local schools and communities together. With families, friends, and alumni from Montague, Whitehall, Shelby, Hesperia, and Mona Shores filling the stands, the event highlighted the support and camaraderie that exists among the schools.

As the final notes rang out and the lights began to fade, the sense of unity and pride remained, leaving everyone eager for next year’s show.

A Unique Celebration of Marching Band Spirit

As Montague’s band director Emma Greenwood shared, “So often, the band’s role is to provide a supportive service—to march in a parade, play for a pep assembly, or perform at a sporting event. Or we’re there to compete or be judged. But this night is different! Our only purpose at the Glow Show is to have fun! To celebrate all of the hard work and dedication students have put into their show for any given year. This was our 8th Glow Show, and each year it just seems to become more popular. It’s such a fantastic night to bring local communities together to celebrate marching bands.”

“The support that each band shows for one another is amazing. Even though each of our programs is different, we come together to celebrate the end, or near the end, of our seasons. One thing we all have in common is that the Glow Show is one of, if not the favorite event of the year! The community support gives students a huge boost of validation, showing them they are appreciated. A few years ago, after their first Glow Show, a student said to me, ‘Mrs. Greenwood, I felt like a rock star when everyone was cheering for us.’ That alone is enough.”
