June Happenings at White Lake Area Libraries

Kick off summer with learning, creativity, and adventure at White Lake Community Library and Montague Branch

Summer is here, and both the White Lake Community Library and the Montague Branch are packed with exciting June programs for all ages. From dinosaurs and summer reading celebrations to crafts, outdoor storytimes, and wellness activities, there are plenty of opportunities to learn, connect, and have fun all month long.


Mondays throughout June | 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Bring your knitting, crochet, or fiber arts project and enjoy an afternoon of creativity and conversation.


Tuesdays, June 2 & 9 | 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
ABCs of Cooking is a free program for families with children ages 3–5 that combines reading, singing, and hands-on cooking fun. Families will receive free books and cooking supplies while learning together in an engaging environment.

Priority is given to families living in the Whitehall area. Space is limited to eight families, and registration is required.


Thursdays throughout June | 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Join certified instructor for a gentle yoga session suitable for all experience levels. Cost is $13 per session.


Thursdays throughout June | 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Chair Yoga offers a supportive practice focused on flexibility, strength, and relaxation. Suggested donation is $5, or free for Silver Sneakers participants.


Thursday, June 4 | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Little ones ages 2–5 can stomp, roar, and boogie during this dinosaur-themed dance party featuring music, games, and crafts. Registration required.


Friday, June 5 | 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Teens are invited to relax, connect with friends, and enjoy games and activities in a welcoming space at the library.


Monday, June 8 | 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Food lovers are invited to prepare dishes inspired by the month’s theme and enjoy an evening of recipes and conversation.


Tuesday, June 9 | 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Readers can bring a book of their choice and share recommendations in a relaxed discussion setting.


Wednesday, June 10 | 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
This supportive creative program is designed for individuals experiencing memory loss and their caregivers. Registration required.


Thursday, June 11 | 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Celebrate the start of Summer Reading with activities, fun, and community excitement for readers of all ages.


Fridays, June 12, 19 & 26 | 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Children can explore nature, stories, and outdoor fun during this Summer Reading adventure series.


Monday, June 15 – Saturday, June 20 | All Day
Celebrate Juneteenth by creating craft stick flags inspired by Pan-African or red, white, and blue colors. Open to all ages while supplies last.


Monday, June 15 | 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Travel back in time with hands-on dinosaur activities from the Lakeshore Museum. Participants can explore interactive stations and create a fossil to take home.


Tuesdays, June 16, 23 & 30 | 9:30 – 10:15 a.m.
Songs, movement, and early learning fun for babies and caregivers continue as part of the Summer Reading Program.


Pop-Up Storytime (White Lake Community Library)


Wednesday, June 17 | 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Explore rocks, fossils, and geology through this hands-on educational adventure.


Wednesday, June 17 | 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Create decorative clay diffuser stones scented with essential oils in this relaxing craft workshop. Registration required.


Thursday, June 18 | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Kids can use dinosaur toys and shadows to create one-of-a-kind dinosaur silhouette art. Registration required.


Thursday, June 18 | 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Teens can sample dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets with a variety of dipping sauces and vote for their favorites. Registration required.


Thursday, June 18 | 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Families can explore large vehicles and equipment up close during this hands-on community event.


Saturday, June 20 | 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Join the Muskegon Area Parks and Greenways Coalition for a discussion of Nature’s Best Hope by Doug Tallamy. Registration required.


Monday, June 22 | 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Get up close with live alligators and reptiles while learning fascinating facts from Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary.


Monday, June 22 | 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Create festive decorative firecrackers in this hands-on adult craft workshop. Registration required.


Wednesday, June 24 | 4:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Community members are welcome to attend the monthly board meeting.

Enjoy dinosaur-themed fun, snacks, and activities during this playful tea party event.

Actors Workshop of West Michigan presents an interactive dinosaur-themed theater production followed by a dinosaur craft activity.

Create colorful soap bars with hidden dinosaur surprises inside. Registration required.
