August brings a slower pace before fall programming begins, but there are still plenty of opportunities to gather, learn, and create at the White Lake Community Library and the Montague Branch. From recurring favorites like yoga, Yarn Connections, and Mahjong to crafts, a book sale, and hands-on activities, there’s something for all ages throughout the month.
Yarn Connections (White Lake Community Library)
Mondays, August 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 | 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery, or other fiber arts project and enjoy an afternoon of creativity and conversation with fellow makers.
Gentle Yoga (White Lake Community Library)
Thursdays, August 6, 13, 20 & 27 | 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Enjoy a relaxing yoga session designed for all experience levels. Gentle Yoga focuses on flexibility, balance, and overall wellness. $13 per session.
Chair Yoga Class (White Lake Community Library)
Thursdays, August 6, 13, 20 & 27 | 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Chair Yoga provides a gentle, supportive workout using chairs for added stability. Suggested donation is $5, or free for Silver Sneakers participants.
Blood Drive at the Library (White Lake Community Library)
Thursday, August 6 | 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Help save lives by donating blood during the White Lake Community Library’s community blood drive in partnership with Versiti Blood Center of Michigan. Eligible donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment, though walk-ins may be accommodated if space is available. Appointments are preferred.
Mahjong at the Library (White Lake Community Library)
Fridays, August 7, 21 & 28 | 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Players of all experience levels are invited to enjoy friendly games of Mahjong while connecting with others in the community.
Book Sale (White Lake Community Library)
Saturday, August 8 | 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Browse a wide selection of gently used books and discover your next favorite read while supporting the library.
Cookbook Club (White Lake Community Library)
Monday, August 10 | 5:30 – 6:45 p.m.
Prepare a recipe inspired by the month’s theme and enjoy an evening of great food, recipes, and conversation with fellow home cooks.
Pick-Your-Own-Book Club (White Lake Community Library)
Tuesday, August 11 | 5:30 – 6:45 p.m.
Choose any book you’d like and join the discussion as participants share what they’ve been reading and recommend favorite titles.
Diamond Art (Montague Branch) – Registration Required
Wednesday, August 12 | 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Create beautiful sparkling artwork using colorful diamond painting techniques in this relaxing craft program for adults. Registration required.
Stone Stories (Montague Branch) – Registration Required
Tuesday, August 18 | 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Explore the history of ancient petroglyphs while creating their own stone-inspired artwork. Registration required.
Pet Rocks (Montague Branch) – Registration Required
