Common Ground to Host Free Community Program on Data Centers

Residents interested in learning more about data centers and their role in local communities will have an opportunity to attend a free public presentation next month at the White Lake Community Library.

Common Ground Community of White Lake will host “Data Centers 101: What White Lake Residents Need to Know” on Tuesday, August 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the White Lake Community Library in Whitehall.

The program comes as data centers and related local ordinances have become a topic of discussion in several White Lake area communities.

According to Common Ground Community of White Lake, the presentation will be led by Marisa McGlue, a member of the White River Township Planning Commission. Organizers say the program will provide an overview of what data centers are, how they operate, state laws related to tax incentives for data centers, and why local ordinances play a role in their development.

The presentation will also include time for audience questions and discussion.

The event is free and open to the public.

For more information, email commongroundwhitelake@gmail.com or follow Common Ground Community of White Lake on Facebook or YouTube.

The White Lake Community Library is providing the meeting space but does not sponsor or endorse the event, according to the event organizers.
