Community Support Needed for White Lake Fireworks

The White Lake Fireworks Committee is asking residents and local businesses to help keep one of the community’s favorite summer traditions alive by contributing to its annual fireworks fund.

Each year, donations help cover the cost of the fireworks display, permits, safety measures and other expenses required to host the event. This year, however, organizers say the need for community support is even greater as costs have climbed significantly due to nationwide demand tied to America’s 250th anniversary celebration.

According to the committee, holding the fireworks show on Independence Day itself would have nearly doubled the cost of the event. As communities, organizations and families across the country plan larger-than-usual celebrations for the nation’s semiquincentennial, demand for fireworks displays has surged.

Committee members explained that increased demand for pyrotechnic services, combined with higher manufacturing, shipping and labor costs, has driven prices upward across the industry.

To help manage costs while preserving the tradition, the White Lake Fireworks Committee scheduled this year’s display for July 3 rather than July 4. The adjustment allows the community to continue enjoying a high-quality fireworks show while avoiding the steep premium associated with Independence Day bookings during the nationwide anniversary celebration.

The date change also creates a full holiday weekend of festivities. Residents can enjoy fireworks on July 3, followed by the community parade on Saturday morning with the White Lake Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau, and then continue celebrating throughout the weekend with family and friends at local parks, beaches and events.

Committee members emphasize that every donation makes a difference.

“We’re asking for donations to our Fireworks Fund,” the committee said in a recent announcement. “Your support will help us purchase fireworks and cover necessary permits and safety measures to ensure a spectacular and safe event for all.”

Community members can contribute through the committee’s Venmo account, by placing donations in collection cans located around town, or by contacting the committee directly.

Organizers say supporting the fireworks fund is about more than putting on a show.

“By contributing, you’re not just lighting up the skies, but also strengthening our community bonds,” the committee noted.

Those interested in helping ensure the tradition continues are encouraged to make a donation as preparations continue for this summer’s celebration.
