Lake Town Athletic Club Brings Futsal Fun to White Lake

From First Game Confusion to Community Connection
When Don joined the Lake Town Athletic Club’s indoor futsal league, he had no idea what he was getting into. “Our first game, we didn’t even know the rules,” he laughed. “The refs were yelling at us as we played, and we were just staring at them. It was hilarious, and we had no clue—but we loved it.”

Don’s experience captures the spirit of the club’s first indoor futsal season, which ran through the winter and concluded on March 30, 2026. The league quickly became a space for adults in White Lake to play, stay active, and form new friendships in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

A Season of Firsts
Jacob and his friends, who formed a team years ago as the lightheartedly named Oprah Soccer Club, found themselves back on the court with fresh excitement. “It was amazing to reconnect with friends, play together, and try something new,” he said. “Even for those of us who’ve played soccer our whole lives, futsal is a different game, and that made it fun.”

The league welcomed players of all skill levels. Some had grown up playing soccer, while others, like Don, were stepping onto a futsal court for the first time. Everyone learned together, laughed together, and enjoyed friendly competition.

Founders’ Vision: More Than a League
Kyle Bartlett and Jeffery Greve started the Lake Town Athletic Club with a clear goal: to provide adults with fun, social opportunities to stay active while fostering community connections. In Summer 2025, they successfully ran an outdoor soccer league, which gave them confidence there was strong interest in adult sports programs. “We noticed a gap in options for adults to play soccer and futsal in the area,” Bartlett said. “We wanted to create something that’s welcoming, flexible, and just plain fun.”

Greve added, “It’s not just about the sport. It’s about people meeting, connecting, and having experiences together. Seeing that happen this first futsal season has been incredible.”

Futsal: Fast-Paced Indoor Soccer
Futsal is a smaller-sided, indoor version of soccer played on a hard court with a smaller, low-bounce ball. Kyle explains, “It’s fast, fun, and focused on skill and teamwork. It’s a great way for anyone—experienced or new to soccer—to stay active and improve their game in a social environment.”

Support from Sponsors
None of this would be possible without local sponsors, who provide crucial support for leagues, facilities, and events. “We’re so grateful to the businesses and organizations that help make this happen,” Kyle said. “Their support allows us to keep costs reasonable, provide a great experience for players, and grow the club. We’re always looking for more sponsors to join the fun and support the community.”

Sponsors made it possible! From banners to fresh pizza from Papa’s Pizza in Montague, the league was fueled with community spirit and great food.

Looking Ahead: Programs and Facility
The Lake Town Athletic Club already has exciting programs planned. An Adult Summer Soccer League is scheduled for Summer 2026, followed by a Fall Futsal season later in the year. Looking further ahead, the club hopes to develop a dedicated indoor futsal facility to host leagues, pickup games, and special events year-round. Residents interested in participating or supporting the facility initiative can sign up through the Lake Town Athletic Club website to receive updates.
