Montague Township Board Meeting Recap – February 10, 2026

The Montague Township Board held a productive meeting on February 10, 2026, addressing a variety of local concerns. The session kicked off at 7:00 p.m. at Montague Township Hall.

Approval of the Agenda and Minutes
The meeting began with a motion to approve the agenda and the minutes from the January 13, 2026 meeting. A minor change was made to the agenda, with the addition of a discussion on replacing the chairs in the township hall.

Visitor Concerns
The Lake Town Athletic Club was present to discuss the potential use of township soccer facilities for their soccer league this summer. They requested the use of the soccer fields, and if those are unavailable, they would like to use the fields from last year, with the addition of more frequent mowing to keep the grass shorter. Township officials agreed to further discuss this request, stressing the importance of field upkeep.

Old Business
The discussion on road maintenance continued. Township officials mentioned ongoing talks with Blue Lake Township regarding possible collaboration on road repairs, though no definitive solutions have been reached yet.

Additionally, the issue of VAC Center for senior activities was raised, but concrete numbers were not yet available.

New Business
The Board also reviewed a quote for repairs to the township hall, with a proposed total of $3,585.02 for masonry, siding, and painting. After a brief discussion, the board agreed to move forward with the repair.

Another item discussed was the possibility of installing solar-powered cameras at the township park to monitor for issues such as snowmobiles and vandalism. The board decided to gather more information before making a decision.

Board Reports
Various reports were presented, including financial updates. The township’s invoice payments and treasurer’s report were reviewed.

Salaries and Employee Appreciation
A proposal to give a $100 per month raise to two township employees was put forward. The employees, Julie and Kara, were commended for their exceptional work.

Next Steps and Closing Remarks
Looking ahead, the Board noted that the next meeting would take place on March 10, 2026.
