For five years, the Run White Lake 5K has been more than just a race. Scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 9 AM as part of the White Lake Area Maritime Festival, the event continues its mission of uniting the community while supporting local students. Each stride is a step toward giving youth the resources, guidance, and encouragement they need to thrive.
Building a Strong Foundation Through Bridge & Bloom Project
Jenna and Rob Sorensen, owners of White Lake Nutrition, are leading the initiative with their nonprofit, Bridge & Bloom Project. The organization helps students grow strong and confident across mind, body, and spirit. “We want to make sure we are supporting students across the board. Mental health is a really big issue right now, and there’s a lot that goes into helping a human being become whole,” Jenna said.
Bridge & Bloom focuses on mentorship, nutrition, mental health awareness, and leadership development. “The whole goal of that is to help a student Bloom,” Jenna explained. “Within that, there are three different categories… fitness and nutrition, mentorship and leadership, and mental health”.

Fitness and Nutrition: Fueling Growth
Fitness and nutrition are the first pillars of the program. Movement improves mental health, and proper nutrition fuels students’ bodies and minds. Jenna described the focus: “We know that nutrition is like having whole nutrition is a really big deal… Herbalife has a program that enables us to provide healthy, protein-filled snacks for our local students”.
Mentorship and Leadership: Empowering the Next Generation
Bridge & Bloom connects students with caring adults and older peers. Jenna highlighted the value of mentorship: “Older high schoolers mentoring middle schoolers, and middle schoolers mentoring younger elementary age kids… when we empower people to do that, they find more purpose and fulfillment in life”.
Leadership development is another focus. Jenna explained, “We have training in John Maxwell, we are John Maxwell certified, and there’s leadership things that we hope to be able to share with our public schools… If we have more leaders within our community, more students, that’s going to help our world a lot in the long run”.

Mental Health: The Heart of the Race
Mental health remains central to the Run White Lake 5K. Jenna emphasized, “Our hopes are we can still support the Hope Squad and any of those needs that the school already has… We really want to look at all students, and not just aim at one age level”.
Race Day Experience
Race day begins with registration and packet pickup at 7:30 AM, followed by a community prayer and a group color toss at 8:50 AM. The 5K starts at 9 AM, with awards recognizing top finishers across age divisions. Participants and spectators can enjoy free snacks, hydration drinks, and a positive, inclusive atmosphere. Jenna described it as “a really fun, positive environment for people cheering our community members on”.

Volunteers and donors are encouraged to join. Jenna explained, “Even if people aren’t participating in the race, the race… there are always people sitting there cheering people on… That day of, like, get those feelings. The race starts where it ends, and it creates a really fun, positive environment”.

A Long-Term Vision for Community Impact
The Run White Lake 5K is part of a broader effort to support students in the Whitehall Montague school district. Jenna noted, “This year, it’s going to be laying foundations that are going to build a strong environment for years to come… we have a huge passion for the next generation, to keep them alive spiritually, mentally, emotionally”.
Rob added, “We can’t do this alone. If we all chose to stop, it would be a very bad thing… everything starts here. It’s the heart of the community”.

Joining the Event
Registrations after July 11 may not include a guaranteed race t-shirt or size. Participants can sign up through the White Lake Nutrition Facebook page or by searching Run White Lake 2026. Sponsors and donors are welcome to contribute financially, provide snacks, or volunteer during the event.
The Run White Lake 5K continues to embody its mission: to unite the community and provide students with support, mentorship, and hope. Jenna summarized, “It’s all for the sake of our kids and for the mission. At the end of the day, it goes to them, and that’s what it’s all about”.
