Walk the Beat White Lake Area Seeks Young Musicians for 2026 Festival

Opportunity for Young Performers

The search is on for the next generation of local musical talent.

Walk the Beat White Lake Area is currently looking for one musical act with members age 20 or younger to perform during the 2026 Walk the Beat festival on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

The selected performer will take the stage at the Covell Park venue from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Organizers are encouraging high school garage bands, young musicians, and up-and-coming performers from across the White Lake area and beyond to apply for the opportunity.

Supporting Local Music

“This event was created to support the music scenes in Grand Haven, Albion, and the White Lake Area, and we are grateful for what musicians do,” organizers shared in a recent announcement.

Walk the Beat is a volunteer nonprofit organization whose vision is “Music everywhere for everyone.” The organization works to build communities through music by creating opportunities for musical education, relationships, and live performances while bringing musicians and audiences together in unexpected places.

Competition and Prizes

In addition to the chance to perform for the community, participating acts will also compete for prizes.

The first-place band will receive either 18 hours of recording studio time or $1,500 cash, along with the opportunity to participate in the Nuveen Arts Council Summer Concert Series in 2027 for up to $1,500.

Second place will receive $750, while third place will earn $500.
