On a sunny Saturday morning at the Viking Athletic Center, the energy was unmistakable. Laughter, conversation, and words of encouragement carried across the track as a diverse group of people—some seasoned exercisers, others there for the very first time—gathered with a shared goal: to move their bodies and support one another.
This is White Lake Fit.

Started by Rob and Jenna Sorensen, the owners of White Lake Nutrition, White Lake Fit exists to build a healthy, confident, and empowered community—one person at a time. Through accessible workouts, encouragement, and a strong sense of belonging, the group is redefining what fitness looks like in the White Lake area.

Fitness That Meets You Where You Are
White Lake Fit is designed for everyday people who want to move, grow, and get healthier—regardless of age or fitness level. Families are welcome, and it’s not uncommon to see kids participating alongside their parents. There’s no pressure to be “in shape” or to keep up with anyone else. Every workout is self-paced, with clear options and modifications, and participants are encouraged to listen to their bodies.
That approach was on full display during the January 31 workout. The group moved through a guided circuit of upper body, lower body, and core exercises, with the option to run or walk laps in between. Instructions were clear, encouragement was constant, and participants were repeatedly reminded that progress—not perfection—is the goal.
Whether someone was just getting started or already working out regularly, the workout offered something for everyone. People spread out across the track, moving at their own pace, supporting one another along the way.

A Welcoming First Impression
One of the most powerful aspects of White Lake Fit is how welcoming it feels—especially for newcomers. Many participants on January 31 were attending for the first time, and several shared that they had been nervous or even scared to come initially.
Those nerves didn’t last long.
From the moment people arrived, they were met with smiles, encouragement, and reassurance. Participants who showed up unsure quickly felt at home and supported. Conversations sparked easily, high-fives were common, and kids jumped in alongside parents, adding to the relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.
“You don’t have to be in shape or have it all figured out—just show up,” Rob and Jenna shared. White Lake Fit is intentionally judgment-free and built to meet people exactly where they are.

More Than a Workout
While the workout itself lasts about 30 minutes, the impact of White Lake Fit goes far beyond physical movement. The group focuses on building confidence, connection, and mental well-being—something that has been especially meaningful after a long winter with limited sunlight.
Rob and Jenna say one of the most rewarding parts has been seeing people arrive feeling heavy—mentally or emotionally—and leave feeling lighter, encouraged, and energized. Many participants have shared that this community and movement have been exactly what they needed, especially for their mental health.
That sense of encouragement and accountability is what makes White Lake Fit different from working out alone. The shared effort, positive energy, and support help people push past barriers and keep showing up—for themselves and for their community.

Fueling the Body, Inside and Out
Care doesn’t stop when the workout ends. After each session, Rob and Jenna take time to remind participants of the importance of refueling their bodies—hydrating, eating enough protein, and giving their bodies what they need to recover.
As an added encouragement, attendees are given coupons to White Lake Nutrition and invited to stop by after the workout to fuel up. For those who can’t make it right away, the coupons can be used another time or even shared with a friend. It’s a small gesture that reflects a larger message: taking care of your health doesn’t end when the last exercise is done.

When and Where to Join
White Lake Fit meets at the Viking Athletic Center:

Workouts are currently held indoors, with plans to incorporate outdoor sessions during the summer months. Because most workouts are indoors, sessions are not canceled due to weather. Any changes or outdoor plans are communicated ahead of time.
