Whitehall Schools Operating Millage Renewal Passes

White Lake, Mich. — Voters in the Whitehall District Schools area approved the renewal of the district’s Operating Millage during the May 6, 2025, special election.

According to unofficial results from Muskegon County, the proposal passed with 1,768 votes in favor and 1,251 votes against, with all six precincts reporting.

The renewal allows Whitehall District Schools to continue levying up to 18 mills on all non-principal residence properties through 2035. This includes a statutorily required 18 mills and an additional 2 mills available under the “Headlee” amendment rollback provisions, if needed. The district estimates that the approved millage will generate approximately $4.17 million in revenue in 2026 to support operational expenses.

The measure is designed to ensure that the district receives its full per-pupil funding allocation under state law, helping cover daily operations and educational programming.

In a public statement following the results, Whitehall District Schools expressed gratitude to the community for its support, emphasizing a continued focus on delivering the best possible educational experience for students.
