WHITEHALL, MI — The Common Ground Community of White Lake invites the public to attend an informational community presentation titled “Legal Immigration in the US” on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 PM at the White Lake Community Library, 3900 White Lake Dr., Whitehall.
This educational event will explore how legal immigration to the United States works and help clarify many common misconceptions surrounding the immigration process. Topics will include:
- The different paths to legal immigration
- The difference between undocumented and underdocumented immigrants
- Why the immigration process can take 6–28 years to complete
The featured speaker will be Penny Burillo, who has worked in citizenship and immigration throughout her career, including serving as Director of the Oceana Hispanic Center. She currently owns “Lost in Translation,” providing translation services.
The event is free and open to the public.
Hosted by the Common Ground Community of White Lake, the program is intended to encourage education, discussion, and community understanding on important issues affecting residents today.
