For residents and local business owners alike, the White Lake Area Community Business Expo is more than just an event—it’s a chance to see the heart of the community in action. Each year, this Expo brings together local businesses and community members under one roof, creating connections, sparking discovery, and showcasing the rich diversity of services and products the White Lake area has to offer.
“This is one of our most important events,” says Stephanie Ware, Executive Director of the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. “Many of our businesses are small and locally owned. The Expo gives them a unique opportunity to showcase what they offer and meet potential customers face-to-face. And for the community, it’s a fun way to learn about services they might not have realized were available right here at home.”
The impact of the Expo stretches beyond the event floor. By encouraging residents to shop local and meet business owners directly, the Expo strengthens the area’s economy while fostering relationships that often turn into long-term customers, referrals, and collaborations. “When people meet the business owners behind the services they use, it builds trust,” Ware explains. “Those connections help support a stronger, more connected community.”
This year, the Expo embraces a festive theme: “Stars, Stripes, and Success,” celebrating America’s 250th birthday. Businesses are invited to bring creativity and energy to their booths, with two optional categories: Spirit of ’76, honoring vintage Americana and historical themes, and Red, White & Blue Showstopper, showcasing the most visually striking patriotic displays. Attendees will even have the chance to vote for their favorite booth, adding an interactive layer to the experience.
Visitors can expect over 50 local businesses representing a variety of industries, from retail and services to manufacturing. The Expo is a unique networking hub, connecting business owners with each other while giving residents the opportunity to explore new products and services. “The Expo creates a space where conversations happen naturally,” Ware says. “Business owners meet potential customers, collaborate with other businesses, and residents get to know the people behind the names they see around town. That familiarity helps people remember and trust these businesses.”
Beyond discovery and networking, the Expo serves as a dynamic showcase for local products and services. Many businesses offer demonstrations, samples, promotions, and giveaways, making it easy for attendees to connect with companies they may not have encountered otherwise. For residents, the key to maximizing the experience is simple: visit as many booths as possible, ask questions, and engage with the community. And best of all, attending the Expo is completely free.
The event also runs in conjunction with the Montague-Whitehall Rotary Club’s Pancake Breakfast, offering attendees a chance to start—or end—the day with pancakes for a good cause. This synergy of community events highlights the Expo’s role in the broader landscape of White Lake’s annual celebrations, complementing other festivities like the Arts & Crafts Festival and Pumpkinfest by spotlighting the local business community that sustains the economy year-round.
With sponsorship from local organizations including CatchMark Technologies, Diebold Insurance Agency, Scheid Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, Shoreline Roofing & Gutters, Shelby State Bank, Weesies Brothers Garden Center & Landscaping, Complete Restoration & Cleaning Services, MasterTag, Whitehall Equipment Rental, and White Lake Beacon, the Expo continues to grow in its 13th year—sold out last year and nearly full this year, with just one booth remaining.
For residents, the takeaway is clear: attending the White Lake Area Community Business Expo is more than a day of exploration—it’s an opportunity to support local businesses, build relationships, and celebrate the vibrant community that makes White Lake home.
