Montague FFA: A Legacy of Leadership and Community Impact

Montague FFA continues to shine as a beacon of leadership, community involvement, and academic excellence. Recently, the program has garnered attention for its success and the remarkable students who are a part of it. But behind the awards and recognition lies a deeper story—one of dedication, growth, and a commitment to preparing students for the future.

Excellence Driven by Passion

At the heart of Montague FFA’s success is the students. Kate Feuerstein, an advisor for the chapter, reflects on what these recent awards mean for the program. “These awards speak to the level of student we have in Montague. Students want to do well and represent themselves, their chapter, school, and community as best they can.” This drive for excellence is a key element of what makes Montague FFA stand out. It’s not just about winning awards—it’s about the pride these students take in representing their school and their community, and the impact they are already making.

Real-World Connections: Bridging School and Career

What truly sets Montague FFA apart from other programs is its strong connection to the community. The program has formed valuable partnerships with local businesses and organizations, providing students with opportunities to gain real-world experience. From collaborating with the Whitehall and Montague food service departments to working with local farm bureaus and the Sportsmen’s Club, students are exposed to career paths and professional environments beyond the classroom.

Feuerstein explains, “These experiences provide students with connections to the world beyond high school and give them a glimpse into what goes on in our area. It can lead to internships, careers, and connections to the community.” These partnerships are more than just extracurricular activities—they’re stepping stones to the future, giving students an invaluable look at potential career paths while fostering a deep sense of community involvement.

Hands-On Learning: Preparing for Life After High School

The experiences within Montague FFA are designed to prepare students for life beyond high school, both personally and professionally. One of the key ways the program does this is through placement and entrepreneurship projects. These hands-on opportunities help students develop essential life skills such as work ethic, teamwork, and time management. In the entrepreneurship aspect, students learn how to manage finances, start a business, and navigate the challenges that come with running a small company.

“For the awards portion, the application causes students to reflect on their job, skills, accomplishments, and goals,” says Feuerstein. “Doing that is never a bad thing.” The reflective process encourages students to not only look at what they’ve accomplished but also to set clear goals for their future. These experiences shape them into individuals who are ready for the challenges ahead.

Celebrating Community Support and Student Achievement

This year, Montague FFA continues its nearly 75-year tradition of success, remaining one of the top three chapters in the state. Feuerstein shares, “Whether they’re working outside with the M-CREW landscaping, going all in on leadership competitions, or focusing on events like Animal Day, the ability to do these events well and continue the nearly 75 years of success is something we hope the community is proud of.” And indeed, the community has a lot to be proud of. The support from parents, staff, and local businesses plays a crucial role in the program’s continued success.

In fact, Montague FFA has been named the top chapter in both 2024 and 2025—a remarkable achievement that highlights the program’s excellence. The students’ hard work has earned them a spot to present their entire program of activities at the state level in March, further showcasing their commitment to excellence.

A Bright Future Ahead

As Montague FFA continues to thrive, the impact of its students, advisors, and community support cannot be overstated. The program’s focus on leadership, community involvement, and real-world experience is shaping the next generation of leaders who will go on to make a difference in their communities and careers.

Feuerstein concludes, “The success of Montague FFA is due to the support of the parents, community, staff, and students.” The continued achievements of Montague FFA are a testament to the power of collaboration and the determination of a group of students and community members committed to making a difference.
