Your Community Needs You: Become a NewsNut

If you’ve ever found yourself curious about what’s happening at a local board meeting, inspired by a neighbor’s success, or eager to share the excitement of a community event—then you might just have what it takes to become a NewsNut.

What Is a NewsNut?

A NewsNut is more than just a volunteer—it’s a local storyteller, an on-the-ground reporter, and a bridge between the White Lake area’s events and the people who care about them.
Whether you’re attending a township meeting, photographing a festival, or writing about the latest high school achievement, you’ll be playing an important role in keeping our community informed and connected.

How You Can Get Involved

We’re looking for volunteers who can lend their skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Event Coverage – Attend local happenings, from festivals and school events to board and city council meetings.
  • Photography – Capture the moments that bring our stories to life.
  • Writing – Turn facts and experiences into engaging articles for our community.
  • Videography – Record and share key moments in motion, whether it’s a short clip for social media or a full event recap.

Your level of involvement is up to you—whether you want to attend one event a month or cover multiple happenings each week, we welcome your passion and participation.

Why Become a NewsNut?

Being a NewsNut isn’t just about reporting—it’s about contributing to the heartbeat of our community. You’ll:

  • Help neighbors stay informed about local happenings.
  • Shine a light on the people, places, and stories that matter most.
  • Build your skills in writing, media, and reporting.
  • Be part of a team dedicated to celebrating the White Lake area.

It’s a rewarding, fun, and meaningful way to give back.
