The waters of White Lake came alive on August 23, 2025, as paddlers of all ages gathered for the annual Float-A-Palooza, the beloved community fundraiser hosted by the White Lake Snow Farmers. Despite a little early morning rain and wind in the forecast, the energy on the water was unmistakable — bright, enthusiastic, and full of smiles.
A Unique Vibe on the Water
This year’s Float-A-Palooza buzzed with excitement as participants proudly showed off their collection of yearly stickers on kayaks and the colorful wristbands earned over the past four years. Unlike the usual on-land gatherings in the White Lake area, this event thrives on its distinctive on-the-water community celebration, bringing people together in a refreshing and adventurous way.

Participant Feedback: Smiles All Around
While a few paddlers chose to stay ashore due to weather or wrapped up after the 2 p.m. drone flyover, the overwhelming feedback was glowing. Planning, communication, and execution received high praise, and not a single paddler left unhappy. From recreational kayakers to long-time supporters, everyone agreed: Float-A-Palooza was a huge success.

A New Highlight: The Kristening of the Kayaks
One of the most talked-about additions this year was the “Kristening of the Kayaks.” Local ordained minister Valerie Hansen led a blessing of the boats that left a lasting impression. As she wished paddlers, “may your beverage be cold, your sunscreen strong, and your return to shore triumphant,” participants repeated the words with joy — and many kept repeating them throughout the week. For many, this blessing became a highlight of the entire event.
Music, Memories, and Moments
Music once again played a starring role in shaping the atmosphere. Tommy Foster, joined by Justin and Steve, brought their unique ability to read the crowd and deliver music that felt just right for the moment. On the water, it felt less like a concert and more like a fan club reunion afloat, with paddlers singing along and soaking in the fun.
The sing-along before the drone shot became a particularly memorable moment — a joyful blend of music, laughter, and community spirit. Smiling faces, synchronized paddles, and voices carrying across the lake captured the essence of what makes this event so special.

Why They Keep Coming Back
Float-A-Palooza isn’t just about breaking records. While the attempt to set a world record for the largest raft of kayaks and canoes is a big draw, what truly keeps people returning year after year is the community spirit. Volunteers on the water passing out wristbands, safety patrol crews, the Muskegon Sheriff Patrol, local businesses providing coupons, drone photography, sponsors, and of course, the White Lake Snow Farmers — all come together to create something bigger than just a float.
The thoughtful planning, detailed launch maps, assisted launch areas, safety protocols, and clear communication make participants feel valued and welcomed. More than anything, though, it’s the rare chance to celebrate paddling, White Lake, friendship, and community all at once that keeps Float-A-Palooza anchored as a favorite tradition.
Supporting the Snow Farmers
With a cost of just $12 per vessel, Float-A-Palooza remains the White Lake Snow Farmers primary fundraiser of the year. All proceeds go toward supporting their important work in the White Lake area. This blend of fun, tradition, and community support ensures the event’s lasting impact long after the paddlers return to shore.
Float-A-Palooza 2025 was more than an event — it was a memory-making celebration of community, water, and togetherness.
